Cellar Door

Located only an hour and a half from Newcastle and less than three hours from Sydney, the award-winning Two Rivers sits on the western edge of the scenic township of Denman in the Upper Hunter. The modern Cellar Door, situated in the heart of the vineyard, offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy our extensive range of wines in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. It is the perfect place to embark on an informative yet casual wine-tasting experience, tailored to your preferences.
Immediately outside the Cellar Door, our courtyard has sweeping views across the vineyard towards the distant hills and beyond. Relax here and soak up the view. Enjoy a glass or two of wine with friends whilst indulging in one of our cheese or antipasto platters which showcase local Upper Hunter Valley produce. Spend time getting to know our ‘Custodians of the Landscape’ sandstone sculptures located around the cellar door and vineyard or engage with the kids in some of our novelty and oversized lawn games. Whatever you choose, an afternoon enjoying the peace of Two Rivers will leave you relaxed and wanting to come back for more.
The Cellar Door is open daily throughout the year (with the exception of the public holidays noted below). To make a booking please call 02 6547 2556 or email sales@tworivers.com.au. We look forward to seeing you.

Sculptures

The ‘Custodians of the Landscape’ sandstone sculptures were carved onsite at Two Rivers in the winter of 2015 by international artist Ben Dearnley. More than 20 tonnes of Triassic Narabeen sandstone sourced from the vineyard were used to create this unique and compelling project. This sandstone, which was laid down 200 million years ago in the region, is renowned for its abundance of carved and painted aboriginal rock art, and it is this that Ben directly references in his work whilst also reflecting the immediate landscape. According to Ben the flowing and dynamic nature of his sculptures reflects the ever-changing moods and seasons of the vineyard where growing the vines is a labour of love in tune with nature itself.
There are 8 pieces of Ben’s work situated around the Cellar Door and entry to the vineyard. These pieces, whilst all individual, have been designed by Ben to collectively reflect the importance he saw that Two Rivers placed on our unique landscape.
The Artist – Ben Dearnley
Ben Dearnley is an English born sculptor who has built up an international reputation for creating stunning sculptures in stone, bronze, slate and stained glass. Having studied the art of sculpture at Camberwell University in the UK, followed by working and living in Italy where he learned the ancient traditions of carving marble, he now lives in Ireland and has completed numerous large-scale sculptures around the UK. In 2015 he was commissioned by Two Rivers to carve the sensational rock collection known as the Custodians of the landscape.
